Thank goodness for TiVo š I watched last night’s show this morning. With its country theme, there were some pretty good performances. I was surprised at Phil – the guy was definitely in a zone and gave his best performance of the season.
There were also some pretty bad performances. Ending up in the bottom three were LaKisha, Blake and HWSNBN. Two of them deserved to be there. LaKisha was out of her element last night and should have just done her thing instead of trying to do a country tune. Which is why Blake didn’t belong in the bottom three. He did a good job and stayed true to who he is a performer. Sorry, Chesapeake, but Chris belonged in the bottom three, not Blake. Chris’ performance was really weak.
It goes without saying that HWSNBN butchered Bonnie Raitt’s “Something to Talk About.” Just horrible.
And finally, the vote came: HWSNBN was voted off!
YES!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

After such a bad week of pain, sadness and dispair, it is good to see a small, yet welcome bright spot in that Sanjaya is history!
I still think it’s a stupid show, but it’s hard not to smile with you all in your joy. š
For all his awfulness as a singer, I really did think that Sanjaya played to the TV audience better than the other contestants. He always knew which camera was on. I think that was a big part of his vote getting.
As for the next up, I can’t help noting that Phil Stacey has made the bottom 3 every time he wore a cap, and has been safe every time he sang bare-headed. Not that that should mean anything. It’s a singing contest, after all.
I can only assume from Vivian’s post that it was Voldemort who got voted off…
Voldemort ā
You’re the one who got me going on the acronyms š
Voldemort? And here I’ve been calling Phil Stacey “Count Orlok” all this time.
(Here’s a picture, for those who aren’t up on German silent movies.)
