I will have to find the article, or at least some information on it. Stuff like this happens all to often. Frequently even.
As we say in the world of “cops”, if criminals were smart, our job would be nearly unbearable.

Actually I didn’t word that quite right. There was an article about a Portsmouth Deputy who works the scanners at the Courthouse Security station. He has some astronomical arrest stats for narcotics. That’s the article I was going to look for.
Anyway… dumb as a sack of hammers…
Ha, ha! Yep, going through Arlington’s courthouse security I have found discarded joints and suspicious “oregano” flakes on the floor leading up to the machines.
Carrying drugs isn’t the only stupid thing I’ve seen people do. One time I was in the circuit court for Friday sentencings and saw a young man, awaiting his sentencing, who was wearing a tee shirt featuring a snarling thug glaring at the viewer, and who had a huge blunt in one hand and a handgun in the other, also pointed at the viewer. Just in case one had any doubt about the tee shirt’s message it actually had a caption which read “You Lookin’ At the Bad Guy”. If I’d been his lawyer I would have sent him to the deli next door for a harmless tourist tee shirt.
