I support Nick Rerras for re-election. He is the only legislator out there who really supports reducing real estate taxes. I have seen him at most of the Norfolk Tea Party II functions! Where exacty is Ralph Northam? I have yet to see him see him or hear him speak out against hight real estate taxes!

Norfolk Tea Party II
Maybe because Northam realizes that if you really wanted to lower the real estate tax to 1.08 that Norfolk wouldn’t be able to afford any of those ridiculous things like new firetrucks and ambulances for our growing city.
That and the only reason that the Norfolk Tea Party II even exists is because Randy Wright didn’t want his butt handed to him next time by a bar fly who only spends 100 bucks on his campaign.
Or maybe he’s busy raising money. Something that Rerras apparently isn’t interested in doing.
Real estate taxes are imposed by local governments, like the City of Norfolk. Sen. Rerras is a state official and member of the state General Assembly. So real estate taxes are not the responsibility of his elected office. He sounds a lot like Jim Gilmore, a state official running on a pledge to cut a local tax. We know how that came out.
What you don’t understand is that Paul Fraim is wasting millions of dollars of taxpayer money on hotels in downtown that Norfolk doesn’t need and Ralph Northam is just another liberal who will be a “yes” man to Paul Fraim. Randy Wright is the only member on Norfolk City Council who is for the people and not interested in lining his pockets with taxpayer money! He will run against Fraim in the next mayor election and defeat him! Vivian Paige, you can take that to the bank!

Norfolk Tea Party II
Haha.
That is sooo adorable.
It is very sad to think that the voters of Norfolk can be fooled by such an obvious ploy by Rerras. He does not and cannot influence City real estate taxes. He is just pandering to the ignorance of the citizens-or maybe he really is so dumb that he believes his own p.r. In his case, that could be.
BTW. Since when does a state senator answer to a city mayor? Apparently, there is some real ignorance of how this government runs.

You are obviously a member of the Norfolk Republican Party. The tax issue is not a Republican issue. I am a Democrat and member of the Norfolk Tea Party and my personal property taxes have increased just as much. The Norfolk Tea Party is not affiliated with either the Democrats or Republicans.
Delegate Paula Miller and Senator Rerras have both spoken at Tea Party meetings. Ralph Northam has attended these meetings as well, but only elected officials were invited to speak. I recently received a piece of literature from Ralph Northam and keeping taxes low is one of his issues. Interesting that you are trying to paint Ralph Northam as a liberal, but yet you claim you haven’t heard from him yet. Interesting that you can judge him without even knowing him.
You are nuts to think that Randy Wright will win Mayor of Norfolk. He is slimy and people know it. He would never earn the African American vote because he has made too many racial comments. In order to win Mayor in Norfolk you need votes from the African American Community.
To everyone else: Virginia is a Dillion Rule State, which Vivian knows all about. The state does tell locals that they have to assess at 100% of the value of the house. It is the assessments that increased which caused the tax increase. Nobody was complaining about Norfolk’s taxes until the assessments increased. State legislators can get involved in the tax debate by lowering or putting a cap on assessments. A Homestead exemption was proposed by Governor Kaine (a true leader) and he will propose it again.
The funny part is that Rerras is a member of the majority party, but wasn’t successful in getting his legislation through on taxes. What this tells me is that Rerras is not taken seriously in Richmond, possibly because he is a nutball. He needs to go, but I am sure that he thinks God will make sure he is put back in office.
This election should be more than about taxes, the person who holds that office should have some real sense of the community as a whole, Norfolk is not the only city in the district. as a christian comments that nick has made on record are well very strange like mental illness and demons if a offical says things like that well he is out of touch with the main stream christian community.
I’m ringing to encourage every Norfolk resident reading this blog who wants real property tax relief this coming year – in the form of a significantly lower tax rate – to come out for the public hearing, May 2nd at 6pm at Granby HS (7101 Granby Street). Call ahead at 664-4253 and sign up to speak. If you support this rate, it is imperative the Mayor and City Council hear from you. Call ahead, then come early to check in. Hope to see all of you there. “1.08 in ’08”.
ok so lets see here its been 2 weeks since the last post but hmmm city came back with 1.11 now guess what that aint bad hell for a house valued at 1.67 million by the city thats only a 500$ difference total per year so if your have a house valued by the city at 1.67 million (and we all know the city values way low like half) and you cant afford the 500$ difference then there is something wrong with you!
