VP on ethics

Yesterday, the Virginian-Pilot published an editorial on the ethics panel investigation that resulted in the clearing of state senators Ken Stolle and Tommy Norment.

Here in a nutshell is what’s wrong with ethics regulation in Virginia government.

It’s so inbred, so devoid of accountability, that even if a right action is taken, it smells.

That sounds about right. And we wonder why voter participation continues to decline, as more and more people feel as if the system is corrupt?

Jim Bacon has more.

  1. Thanks for pointing that article out — I’d missed it. I’m glad that Sens. Stolle and Norment were cleared in this matter, but the V-P is right about this ethics panel. To have guys who have contributed money to these senators judging their guilt or innocence tells me that there needs to be an ethics panel for the ethics panel.
