I love Leonard Pitts. Today’s topic is government intrusion into our lives, something that the so-called “conservatives” have been doing quite a bit of. Pitts’ piece includes two quotes from Ronald Reagan that “conservatives” need to take another look at:
Government is not the solution to the problem. Government is the problem.
And:
It is no coincidence that our present troubles parallel and are proportionate to the intervention and intrusion in our lives that result from unnecessary and excessive growth of government.
For folks who so revere Reagan, they certainy have forgotten some of the things he said.
But outsourced government is A-OK!
Pitts is one of the most eloquent, underrated columnists in the country. He is right on target as usual.
I wonder how many of the great libertarian conservatives who so defended Imus and Boortz would agree with Pitts on this one?
Thanks for posting this Vivian.
MB- technically we’re not invasively peering and regulating your life if we pay people in Indonesia to do it for us. 😉
