Quayle v Ramsey in the 13th

The 13th Senate district is seeing primary contests on both sides of the aisle, albeit low profile ones. On the Republican side, incumbent Fred Quayle is being challenged for the second straight time by Richard Ramsey. The race was the topic of a Virginian Pilot article today.

Fred Quayle & Richard Ramsey This is another David versus Goliath battle, with Qualye having about $95,000 on hand while Ramsey has $25.

Most of his [Ramsey’s] money was spent on printing 10,000 flyers, which he delivered door-to-door on his bicycle, he said.

Talk about grassroots campaigning πŸ™‚

Ramsey’s issue in this race is the same as what he campaigned on in 2003: concerns about the creation of regional governments.

The op-ed articles written by these two can be seen in this post.

I think I’m ready to call this race. Quayle will be defending his seat against Democrat Steve Heretick come June 13. And no, the fundraiser Quayle has already scheduled for that date didn’t affect my decision πŸ˜‰
