Noll to contest loss in 96th

Republican candidate Sheila Noll is going to contest the results of Saturday’s firehouse primary in the 96th, according to this article in the Daily Press.

Those regulations barred people who had voted in the nominating process for another party after March 1, 2004 – essentially banning voters who chose sides in the 2005 Democratic primary for lieutenant governor or the 2006 Democratic race when Jim Webb beat Harris Miller.

[Apparent winner Brenda] Pogge’s husband, Roger, apparently voted in one of the races, and Noll’s campaign said he was one of 35 voters who shouldn’t have been allowed to cast ballots in James City County.

The legislative district chairwoman for the Republican Party, Peyton White, said the rules shouldn’t have allowed Roger Pogge to vote, but acknowledged that poll workers in James City were overwhelmed.

The margin of victory for Pogge was a mere 23 votes. If the 35 votes are thrown out, Noll wins.
