Funniest quote of the day

I thought the Allen folks would have helped me more, but it didn’t work out that way.

Former state senator Benny Lambert.

OK, so maybe not so funny, but it certainly is sad. Did he really think that the Allen folks would jump in and help? Was he that delusional?

By the way, congratulations to Donald McEachin!

  1. More importantly, did he REALLY think that even if the Allen folks had gotten involved, that it would have helped him at all in DEMOCRATIC primary? LOL!

  2. Terry, um, yes, he probably did expect them to turn out and vote. There weren’t an R primaries overlapping the district that I’m aware of (the other primary was for McEachin’s old seat in the HOD) so local republicans didn’t have any reason not to vote in the democratic primary except that slightly icky feeling of squirling the vote. George Allen himself has suggested voting in Democratic primaries to draw a prefered nominee before, and McEachin wouldn’t have been completely crazy to think Allen’s supporters in the district would be able to help push him over the line in this primary.

I don’t know how much time he spent trying to organize around this strategy, though.
