Hampton votes no

As expected, the Hampton City Council last night voted against the regional transportation authority. No one spoke in favor of the plan.

“The bill that brought this to us is not worthy of lining your birdcage,” Councilman Paige V. Washington said. “There are so many flaws and reprehensible outcomes here that I believe this is a miscarriage of legislation.”

The count now stands at 6-3. Seven votes are needed for passage. Isle of Wight meets this afternoon and could provide the necessary margin.
