Found this over at Below The Beltway. I’m no Sinatra fan but I was mesmerized by the song at the end, which I’d never heard before. Doug posted the lyrics. But you gotta hear them. They really speak to what America should be.

I’m glad you appreciated it. Frankly (sorry for the pun), until I saw the YouTube video, I’d never seen the original film itself. There’s a version of the song from a concert he did in New York in `74 that I really like but it was pulled from YouTube months ago because of copyright violations.
Nonetheless, the song itself spoke to me the first time I heard it and I’ve always considered it one of those patriotic songs that never got the attention it deserved.
And Happy 4th of July !. We had a great time here in NoVa. Although the fireworks pretty much freaked our dog out.
