John C. Miller is now the official Democratic candidate in the 1st Senate District.
The 1st Senatorial District Democratic Committee hereby announces the cancellation of the advertised Firehouse Primary/Caucus originally scheduled for Saturday July 7th. As publicized, if only one candidate filed their intention to seek the Democratic nomination for Virginia’s 1st Senate seat, the caucus would be cancelled.
We are pleased to announce that Mr. John C. Miller will represent the Democratic Party in November in this critically important election. In order to keep Virginia moving forward, it is vital to send a mainstream, pragmatic and solution-centered Senator to Richmond to partner with Governor Kaine and Senators from both political parties to do what is best for Virginia. We need a sensible approach to education, health care, fiscal policy and transportation for the citizens of Newport News, Hampton, Poquoson, and York County.
Mr. Miller’s opponent is an out of step and ideologically extreme candidate and it is now essential for all Democrats, Independents and Republicans to come together and work to elect Mr. Miller in November.

John Miller is already off to a great start. He did SIX events yesterday, including walking in parades. Serious stamina there. It was extremely encouraging to see the positive response to John from Democrats AND Republicans.
There’s no doubt that there is tremendous excitement about this race. How cool that we have two outstanding senate pickup opportunities here in Hampton Roads!
