Vick: the fallout starts

One of the things that nearly everyone was expecting was that recently indicted Pro Bowl quarterback and Newport News native Michael Vick may lose some of his endorsements. According to this story, Nike has announced that it will not be releasing his latest shoe, the Air Zoom Vick V. At this point, other Nike products bearing Vick’s name will remain.

Nike is unwilling to speculate about its future relationship with the Atlanta Falcons star.

  1. I think life is going to end up getting worse for Vick quickly. I don’t know if you noticed, but there was an article in yesteray’s Virginian Pilot about a Virginia Beach man, one Mr. Smalls, who was arrested for animal cruelty and the illegal use of a firearm. Specifically, he had shot a pitbull in the head with a pistol.

According to Vick’s indictment, on several occasions he “rolled” or “tested” dogs with a Cooperative Witness #1 and others in Virginia Beach, Virginia to determine how well his dogs fought. A dog that underperformed during these sessions was shot in the head with a .22 pistol by codefendant Mr. Peace.

It sure looks like the police are rounding up some of Vick’s local “sporting buddies.” I’ll be surprised if someone hasn’t provided information for Vick to faces charges either in Smithfield or Virginia Beach by the end of the week.

  2. The NFL says it is ok for Vick to play, yet the Falcons are staying mum, last I heard, about whether he would be back or not.

What, was he bored? Is this a situation of being led astray? Is it something he was introduced to prior to his fame?

All good questions, with no answers so far.
