Vick pleads …

… not guilty. Surprised? I’m not. From PilotOnline:

Michael Vick pleaded not guilty today to a federal charge of conspiring to operate a dogfighting venture on property he owned in rural Surry County. A judge allowed the NFL star and three co-defendants to remain free without posting bail.

Vick’s trial has been set to start at 9:30 a.m. Nov. 26.

But is that really the story? How about this?

Richmond school teacher Cathy Coulter and two friends arrived about 5 a.m. to be first in line for courtroom seats. Coulter said the three are being paid by ESPN to hold seats for the sport network’s reporters.

Didn’t training camp start for the NFL today? Isn’t there something else more important than watching a guy show up, plead not guilty, and then go home? And we wonder why sports channels add so much to the cost of cable and satellite TV subscriptions. Man, paying people to hold seats!

Sounds like there was quite a media circus there today. It’s only going to get worse.

UPDATE: Looks like it was a media circus.  Check out this from The Blog Squad.
