Tomorrow morning, State Senator Nick Rerras (R-6th) will be the speaker at the Republican Party of Virginia Beach’s breakfast. The meeting is at the Crowne Plaza Hotel, 4453 Bonney Road, Virginia Beach. 8:00 AM, doors open, 8:30 AM.
Now I understand that the meetings are for Republicans only and that no recording devices are allowed. I have to wonder: what do they have to hide? Shouldn’t the event be open to the public? And, given that this is campaign season, shouldn’t a recording of the event be allowed?
Somebody help me out here.
brian, why are you so mean? get out and take a walk , dear. or don’t you have a yard to cut?
I asked a simple question – why no recording devices – and got no answer. Hmm.
Oh – and in case anyone missed it, Dan was there and had this report.
Lay off Brian, guys, he’s had a hard couple of months. A crazy woman beat out his incumbent senate candidate and then the guy he was backing for party chairman was beat-out by a former LG. It’s simply a tough time to be Brian Kirwin, and I think we should expect that he’s going to be a tiny bit inconsolable for the next few months. Yes, folks, he may sometimes be depressing, but remember: he’s depressing because he’s depressed.
Show a little sympathy.
Brave anonymous. I love how you guys make politics so personal. I criticize a party or its candidates. You come after me. If it wasn’t so darned entertaining…..
Anyway, Vivian’s post wasn’t exactly the height of accuracy, and since she didn’t list her source, I wasn’t going to get into it all. Vivian says the Saturday breakfast meetings are for “Republicans only” and then comments that “Dan was there and here’s his report.” Well, unless Dan from VBDEMS is now a Republican, that would make what Vivian wrote untrue, now wouldn’t it?
Um, Brian – you are so full of it. The original post simply stated that I understood that to be the case. The comment about Dan came afterwards.
I asked a question and you chose to attack Ds instead of saying that the meeting was open. Now, wouldn’t that have answered the question?
Vivian, your question was “What do they have to hide?” Who attacked whom?
If you call that an attack, then you are certainly in the wrong business. I asked a question, which you could have easily answered by saying “Nothing. The meeting is open to all.” Instead, you chose to attack by saying that Democrats have “so little to offer voters.”
But that is your normal, knee-jerk reaction: attack instead of making any attempt to communicate. It’s just tiresome, Brian.
Vivian, I resepctfully disagree. You posted hearsay that winds up being false, and ask “what do they have to hide?” and “shouldn’t it be open to the public?” You didn’t say “Is this true?” It appeared to me to be rather assumptive and a tad smug. And when you’re shown to be wrong, you don’t do anything but say “the post simply said that I understood that to be the case.” Well, guess you understood wrong, but I’m sure your retraction is being written as we speak.
As far as my comments about Democrats, yep. That’s my opinion. They have races going on all over Virginia Beach, and at their single Democratic Breakfast this month, their featured speaker was – Joel Rubin. Not Ralph Northam. Not Bobby Mathieson. Not Bob MacIver. Not Joe Bouchard. Joel Rubin.
Meanwhile the Republicans featured Nick Rerras, and it’s a public breakfast and anyone can attend, and Dan, whom you linked to, has been at several.
Oh, Brian, you haven’t respectfully done anything for a while now….
By the way, I would like to point out in response to your comment that “you guys make politics so personal, I criticize a party or it’s candidates” &c. that your initial comment was an affirmation to Squeaky Wheel, who said:
“The part of Vivian, apperantly will be played by Eileen today.”
Vivian hasn’t been a candidate since 2005, but I guess if you really want to keep campaigning against her, you should feel free to do so. You don’t have any other campaigns still going on that I’m aware of. On the other hand I’m pretty sure Eileen has never run for anything. But hey, whatever blows your skirt up.
Anon, my “yep” was a response to the post, not SW’s comment.
Brian, it’s awfully hard to read your response in context to Vivian’s original post, and far more easy to read it in context as a response to a petty comment from SW. The again, maybe if you responded to things without being acidic or sarcastic once in a while people would know what in the hell you were talking about and we wouldn’t have to guess.
Easily explained. I found it interesting how Democratic blogs were so interested in Republican events, rather than putting out their own message.
Oddly, when the DPV puts out a memo about three issues Democrats should support, one was a bill by a House Republican and the other was a bill by a Senate Republican.
mr. brian, question have you ever ran for public office, if not are you.
