Mick Meyer for Delegate breakfast

Delegate Lionell Spruill Sr. sponsored a breakfast this morning for Democratic candidate in the 78th district, Mick Meyer. In attendance were folks from all over the region, including Norfolk, Virginia Beach, Suffolk and Chesapeake. A number of Chesapeake’s elected Democrats were there, including Clerk of Court Faye Mitchell, School Board member Dr. Sheila Hill, Council members Brian Collins and Cliff Hayes, Vice Mayor Dwight Parker and former Mayor Bill Ward. Council member Ella Ward, who is also chair of the Chesapeake Democratic City Committee, acted as mistress of ceremonies for the event.

House Democratic Caucus Chair Brian J. Moran made the trip down from Alexandria and spoke briefly on the house campaigns in general. The candidate gave a brief speech about his stance on various issues and how the campaign is going. The crowd was enthusiastic in their support and I watched as people loaded campaign signs into their cars.

This is going to be a tough race and everyone is well aware of it. If you have some spare time, volunteer to help. Of course, contributions are always good, too 🙂

  1. Hello Vivian,

Thanks, so much, for your “write-up” about our fundraising breakfast for Mick Meyer, our awesome candidate for the 78th VA House District. Mick Meyer is a talented , hardworking candidate who will get the job done. The Chesapeake Democratic Committee is solidly behind Mick, but we need more volunteers and money. Thanks, again, for attending our breakfast and for the great “blog.” Thanks, also for you continuous support. Please e-mail me about any other events that you are aware of and those that we should be aware of or try to get Mick to attend. You are a great Democrat and a great “Blogger.” We need more of you. Thanks, again.
