A Wii, that is. I’ve never been a gamer and have never owned a game system. But there was just something about the Wii that made me want to give it a shot. So, for the past few weeks, I’ve been trying to track down a system locally. Everywhere it has been sold out. I almost ordered one from California last weekend, but a friend of mine (a fellow member of the “he who dies with the most toys wins” group 🙂 ) told me to hold out and just keep checking the local stores. Pretty easy decision, since the place I was going to order it from was charging $150 over retail for it.
So, after stopping at Best Buy on my way back from the Beach this morning (30 units received Thursday – all gone by today), we made a few calls and located a store that got a delivery last night. Headed straight out and bought it, along with the extra controllers needed for two-person play. And, of course, Madden football 🙂
After a few hours of playing with it, I can honestly say that it’s been a real delight. Of course, my elbow hurts, my knees hurt and after 3 rounds of boxing, I’m worn out.
Oh – and I had to rearrange my family room. It takes a lot of space to play tennis 😀
Aren’t they great…You gotta try Rayman Rabid Rabbits…it’s hilareous. Thought it was going to be stupid, but I instead got hooked. My kids aren’t into it unless of course I FINALLY have an opportunity to play. Congrats…I know they’ve been really hard to find, even in CA.
I await the video version of this entry. 😉
Does Madden football let you bounce two balls to two receivers?
Um, video version? Nah. Who in the world (besides you, of course) wants to see an old lady bowling? 😀
So far, I haven’t figured out how to do the two balls trick 😦 At the rate I’m going, though, I’m going to end up on injured reserve soon 😦
Have to look at the Rayman Rabbits game. I’m off to see what else is available 🙂
Bowling? I’m looking for you and the three rounds of boxing!
Well, I do have a mean uppercut.
Wait – that’s what hit me, a mean upper cut 😦
I gotta practice – a lot.
XBOX360 is the only way to game!!!
That tennis game is like crack. I wish you could do one on one (that doubles game annoys me), but it’s still an insane game. After each time I play, which always ends up being at least 15 games, I have a new medical condition I’ve deemed “Wii arm.” It’s becoming a common condition, I understand.
Well I’m jealous. I’m with Brad, tennis is addictive as anything.
Gotta pace yourself, Brad 🙂 15 games???? That’s insane. Then again, I’m not about to reveal the age that the test said I am. Let’s just say it exceeds my real age 😦
The Wii’s a blast, isn’t it? I sat out all night the the day it launched to pick one up, figuring they would be hard to find (even then, I didn’t think they would still be this rare in stores). And if you are looking for something to play that fits in with some of the more traditional video game play, but is not too difficult, I would suggest Super Paper Mario. Fun game if you like that type.
Glad you’re enjoying the Wii, Vivian. I’ve heard that it’s loads of fun.
Well, I went to the grocery store & there is a game store right next to it so I decided to check out the games. The guy at the store recommended Rayman Raving Rabbids 🙂 Fun game, really funny. And just what I needed – something a little less strenuous.
We have a few different games for our Wii, but I still never play anything but tennis. I can’t get enough of it.
I was thinking about getting a Wii this weekend but I settled for a new 32″ flat panel HD-LCD TV to hook up to my XBox 360. It’s UNBELIEVABLY sweet after using a 20″ for two years. But come to think of it, you still have a bigger TV than I do. I need to go back to school and get a law degree so I can afford bigger things.
Anyway, go get Zelda. 🙂
