I snagged one

A Wii, that is. I’ve never been a gamer and have never owned a game system. But there was just something about the Wii that made me want to give it a shot. So, for the past few weeks, I’ve been trying to track down a system locally. Everywhere it has been sold out. I almost ordered one from California last weekend, but a friend of mine (a fellow member of the “he who dies with the most toys wins” group 🙂 ) told me to hold out and just keep checking the local stores. Pretty easy decision, since the place I was going to order it from was charging $150 over retail for it.

So, after stopping at Best Buy on my way back from the Beach this morning (30 units received Thursday – all gone by today), we made a few calls and located a store that got a delivery last night. Headed straight out and bought it, along with the extra controllers needed for two-person play. And, of course, Madden football 🙂

After a few hours of playing with it, I can honestly say that it’s been a real delight. Of course, my elbow hurts, my knees hurt and after 3 rounds of boxing, I’m worn out.

Oh – and I had to rearrange my family room. It takes a lot of space to play tennis 😀

  1. This news… it does not help me with the quitting of the video games. I say to myself, “from the Odyssey 2 to the PS2 is a good ride for a gamer. Now is the time to throw in the towel and do grown up stuff.” But now the grown ups are in on it!!!

The best thing about the Wii from playing it at my sister and brother-in-law’s house, is that there is no such thing as a Wii couch potato. This system keeps you on your feet and works you out. In many ways it is the best thing to happen to gaming in years.

    Enjoy!
