Kaine in Norfolk with Northam & Miller

Kaine, Miller, NorthamGovernor Tim Kaine joined Delegate Paula Miller and Senate candidate Ralph Northam for lunch Sunday. Oh, and they invited a few supporters as well πŸ™‚ The room at the Azalea Inn was overflowing when I arrived, which was just before Governor Kaine.

It was good to see so many folks out on this gorgeous afternoon. Paula Miller at Azalea InnThe crowd included people from throughout the area, including a sizable contingent from Mathews County. I especially liked the blue t-shirts many of them were wearing. Printed on the back was something along the lines of “Yes, Virginia. There are Democrats in Mathews County!”

After eating lunch, Northam, Miller and Kaine each addressed theNortham at Azalea Inn crowd, in that order. Both Northam and Miller indicated that they are working hard and that the campaigns are going well. Kaine exhorted us to do what we can to re-elect Paula and to elect Northam since he would certainly like to have them both in the legislature come January.

I’m told that Paula knocked doors Saturday for more than 5 hours. Paula Miller signOne of those doors she knocked was mine. It was good to see her in the neighborhood and I’m told that she was well received, which is good news given the leanings of my neighborhood. Perhaps Virginia isn’t all that’s purple πŸ™‚

The Governor left Norfolk to head to Virginia Beach for a similar event with the candidates there. I did not attend that event, but I did head to Portsmouth for Steve Heretick’s Fish Fry. More on that in another post.

(By the way, in case you’re wondering, I didn’t take many pictures at the Northam/Miller event. When the candidates were speaking, they were standing in front of a mirror and the flash splayed on it, as you can see in the picture above. The room was too dark to work without a flash.)

We have about 60 days to go. Be sure to help Ralph and Paula however you can!
