Short notice, I know. More on the flip.
From the email I received:
It is time for all of us to be involved in some way. Many will say that they can not go to Louisiana for many reasons. Ok….but you can support in several ways. Let me put it bluntly: get off your “butts” and take some responsibility for making a difference. This is about protesting a prejudiced legal system that is making an example out of six young men and denying them simple justice we are all entitled to have. For a change, we must stand collectively, so that those in denial of the race issue in this country can no longer turn their heads. We must confront this abuse of power and not sit in complacency.
First, put this on your calendar with an asterisk: On next Thursday, September 20th — dress in black to show support of the Jena Six. (Black suit, black shirt, black dress….whatever)
Second, there is at least five things you can do in lieu of traveling to Louisiana:
- You can forward this email to at least ten other people and ask then to do the same (OK, so you can’t forward a blog post but you certainly can let others know!)
- You can write the Gov. of Louisiana
- You can take the time to obtain the number of CNN, FOX, CBS, NBC, ABC, MSNBC and ask them why this has not generated at least the national coverage it deserves. If it got just half the coverage of Parris Hilton, that would be great.
- Contact your local, state, and national political representatives and ask them to make a statement. (Let them show where they stand)
- Call your local media outlets and ask them to cover the story. Note: (Hint) You’d be surprised what several thousand calls would do to get attention. With just a little effort, we could flood the phone, fax and network servers just for starters.
Do what you can to help out the Jena 6. I know I will.

i do like the fact that you will censor some ones right to speak on your blog simply because they prefer to type in upper case, but guess if you dont TOLERATE it, it is your right not like it could be racial motivated or anything>:}
While the Jena 6 were clearly charged out of proportion to the act they committed, the Black community still needs to put out the message to its youth that attacking another person, hitting him even after he is unconscious, is WRONG. I have yet to hear any Black leaders condemn them for what they did.
The Jena 6 were unfairly charged, but they are not innocent. What kind of message are we sending to the African American youth, that it is okay to beat other people up, but we will support you because you are Black?
Don’t sell your soul to save your pride.
God bless you worried person, i agree with you completely, but i guess you will be considered white now that you disagree with giving the JENA THUGS the noble peace prize. the funny thing to me is how the majority of the people i haev seen on this blog keep mentioning God and forgiveness and being Blessed. but i guess that only black people are Blessed by His word, and should be given forgivness, i just hope that when this is over and the truth comes out those that backed the little hoodlums, will be able to look the white boy in the face and say we’re sorry, but that will never happen because blacks cant say they are sorry they can only say “we’re offended, we’re push down. “
JAQUAN,
THE NEXT TIME WHEN IT’S YOUR CHILD BEING UNFAIRLY PUNISH, YOU REMEMBER THE HARSH THINGS YOU HAVE STATED, IT AIN’T BLACK OR WHITE, ITS EVERYBODY. JUSTICE IS JUSTICE NO MATTER WHAT COLOR YOU ARE
Jaquan,
Is it that you truly don’t get the point or don’t want to get the point. Hanging a noose should be considered a HATE crime. I am not condoning the jumping of any person, however there is a thing called cause and effect that led up the jumping of the person. They did not wake up and say um let’s jump this guy.
Jaquan? A Cherokee named Jaquan..that has done way to much research on the “misunderstood black man”? I’m not buying any of your jibberish. This must be the Funny for the day…please.
JaQuan….(By no means am I coming in anger or rudeness, just in case you are wondering my tone is very calm…that statement was so that my message would not be read in the wrong matter) …..why is it that you feel in order to make your point you must degrade another race? Apparently, you as an INDIVIDUAL hold some very racist tension. But let me clarify myself. I am a Black Woman. I am well educated. I graduate from college at the top of my class, taught high school for a year, and now I am currently in medical school. I take offense to the fact that you belittle those who use government assistance to further their education. Please allow me to say this. Neither I nor my parents had to pay for me to go to school. I received scholarships for both my undergraduate and medical education. A Presidential Scholarship for undergraduate studies (which means they paid for everything for me). If I worked hard and earned excellent grades and a school is willing to pay for me to attend their college then why not use it? And if you look at the statistics the majority of people who receive government assistance in the form of TANF and Food stamps are of the Caucasian race. Another observation I have is that you seem to be obsessed with the Duke case. That was one individual person and yes she was very wrong in her actions. But you are correct those young men are owed an apology from those who openly “called for their heads”. But like I previously stated, she is/was an individual that wanted more than she deserved. Speaking of “deserving”, I take great offense to you stating that blacks are “pitiful third class citizens that don’t deserve the rights that you do have”. Mr. JaQuan who are you tell an entire race what they are and what they don’t deserve? And how can a man married to a black woman speak of her race in such a way and not see something wrong? Lastly, allow me to clarify the anger that is felt by many concerning the Jena 6 situation. Everyone is aware…excuse me I can only speak for myself….I am aware that what those 6 young men did was wrong but the extent in which the punishment is given is not right nor is it fair. The uniform punishment set forth by the systems school board (which can be found in the student handbook) should be enforced, nothing more nothing less. I have also read your “rope” comment. Now can you honestly say that those young men who hung the rope where thinking of a rope in the same matter in which you spoke of it…absolutely not. They meant to send a message that another race sitting under “their” tree would not be tolerated…that sir was a threat. Can you justify charging 3 young men with theft for disarming a man who was about to kill them and not giving him his gun back? That is obscene. 7 young men got in a fight that day..6-on-1. The young man who was jumped on went to the hospital and received a few stitches and went to his ring ceremony that same night. Yet the young men in the fight were expelled from school and are being charged with attempted murder. That is not justice that is a manipulation of the system for an alternative motive. In the school handbooks that I have read…I have read a few…the punishment for a school fight is a school suspension not an attempted murder charge. Thanks for hearing my opinion.
I think prosecuting them for attempted murder is definately excessive. But, on the other hand, demanding that ALL charges be dropped is going to far the other way. This really sends a bad msg. Also, seeing Al Sharpton there ignites an already simmering situation. It’s getting out of hand and brings back riot images of the 60’s.
Just read on the AP wire, a group of black youths converged on a small convience store and ransacked the place. Just what we don’t need. I was afraid of this.
first off, duh, jaquan is not my name, you caught me it only took three days, my real name is michael, my wife is black and is a doctor and i will continue to point out the short comings of the black race as long as you as a race continue to push it everyone elses face that you are owed something. i am glad that you got a free education, but wait, it wasnt free, someone paid for it. in my wifes case she had great grades and was offered a full boat to VCU, however her parents, had the forsight to know they did not want to be given anything. i only say these things about my wife Dana, yes not an african twenty letter name that means nothing, just Dana is a great woman. her famliy has never played the race card. they are people they dont need to me african american, they are americans first. her father is a conservative her mother is not in anyway conservative at all she still does not feel that the government should pay anything like repreration, or continue to pay for the countless dead beat fathers out there. they need to be arrested and forced to pay for the child they made. i agree with that i also feel, hold on to yourself for this statement, if a woman of any race has four or more children with different fathers, if she even knows who the fathers, she should be forced to have her tubes tied when the brith of the last child is completed. and to clamness, a rope can not threaten. just like an x on a hat is not a threat. the way the rope is used is the treat. a simple knot in itself is not a threat, if that is true then so is the x, the x had been used in Germany and in the west to mark people for death.you always talk about the confederate flag being threat it is material nothing more nothing less, just like the american flag it only means something to those of us that have bled for it. it is clear that it does not mean anything to the majority of black and hispanincs, you want to be treated like americans and have the same rights then act like you respect those rights. i am glad that you have also discovered that i have a lot of racial tension in me. i had sick and tired of being put into situations where i have to bite my tongue or simply turn my back at the rudeness of the youth of today. the black youth with the rude mouths and music that degrades women, is totally excepted because its thier freedom of expression, and the white youths in an attempt to be in , have gone to the gutter as well. this world has no respect for human life of any kind, no respect for women, but that does not seem to bother you as a race either. the fact that you allow yourself to be called bitches, and treated as nothing more then sexual recepticals. with out any thoughts of the children you are breeding. you contiue to hold people like oj and mike vick to be your heros. but i guess as i said before, if they injured or killed a black MAYBE they would be seen for what they are animals. and please dont even mention the Duke lacrosse guys as a race it was not just her that ruined those guys, what about the protest infront of the house, the groups of blacks that were outside the courts and calling them names and thier parents getting threats. so dont you say a thing until one of your false gods like sharpton, and jackoffson, make a public statement condeming the action, that will never happen and you know that. like that girl in ny who supposly gotten raped and was later found to be a lie, and the group of blacks that raped the jogger. little pressure got them to be dismissed to. lets face it racial or not the following statement is true, the prisons are full of blacks not from racisim, its because the majority of blacks do the crimes and yes the majority of the crimes or black on black you dont even care for your own race, the streets of richmond and petersburg are red with the blood of those black on black acts. i know because i am in law enforcement and work the cold cases for the federal government, oh God a white man who feels that justice is one sided. i am fed up with the fact that a black woman with less then 5 years and a degree in basket weaving can was placed as Senior Agent in Charge, over the Richmond office. Senior Agent give me a break, we have Agents here that have been in the service for 15 + years, I am one of them, and i have a Masters degree in Administration and Sociology, i also have a degree in Criminal Justice that i obtained while i was a Trooper. All on my own dime and time, took hours off my comp time and switched shifts to go to the classes that i could not take on line. and dont say its other issues that got her the promotion, in her time or service, she had only been involved in three arrest neither of which were her cases, she had never issued a search warrant, she had never made an arrest and i know this for a fact, because of the complaints and subsequent investigations that this promotion caused. seven of us that made written complaints of inquiry were told, she was what the doctor ordered. a black female in a supervisor position, and we needed to suck it up or find somewhere else to go. so yeah im a little pissed off with the equal rights crap, and guess what so is my wife and her family, because it took money out of my families mouths. but that was ok i guess because of all the years that black with no education were not hired over the whites that were trained and educated and could pass the background checks. until next time fire away with your best shot. one last thing next time you get together to protest have a better saying instead of “HELL NO WE WONT GO” very old and you for got you did go, go to somewhere to stir up the local folks and get your faces on camera and embarrass yourselfs with the ebonic english that only proves your ignorance
The events in Jena the last few days have proved what we whites have always known. Blacks will always use the race card to get criminals out of jail. Afterall, intelligence is not part of your ancestry.

Not one black came to the rally for the Duke lacross players who were unjustly accused of rape by a black hoar, yet you n****s have the intestinal fortitude to rally behind 6 thugs who beat a white kid into oblivion.
d.b. – I don’t tolerate that language here. Either clean it up or consider yourself not welcome.
Thankfully, there is finally coverage…
We can all continue to live a life of denial regarding race. Yes the young men need to face punishment. However, the individuals who hung the nooses did as well.
The fact is, certain whites of this town were completely complacent with the race relations as long as blacks did not get out of line. As long as our children did not “sit under a tree.” A tree… God’s creation. They were even fine, as long as the blacks did not make a big fuss about the retaliatory hate crime committed because these children sat under the tree. As long as blacks did not “fight back” race relations were fine. The minute, children get into a school yard brawl, and the one with the lumps ends of being white, then these same whites want to destroy 6 young black men.
When you come from a seat of privilege in this nation, you obvious do not see race when it comes to explaining your ill actions and the subjugated race is compliant. When you come from a seat of privilege you immediately see race, however when you sense an element of “fighting back.”
Remember you also feared non-violence. You fear fighting back and non-violence equally because what you are ultimately fearing (subconsciously) is change.
Whether non-violent or fighting, African Americans and other minorities expressing disapproval will ALWAYS be threats to certain privileged whites because whenever we express disapproval in numbers or put forth a concerted effort, you get a real sense that your seat of privilege may be toppled. In turn, your efforts to “smother” the disapproval is amplified, because you are now utilizing resources to stump out 6 blacks or a group of marchers, as opposed to attacking them one individual at a time. There was a science to burning crosses in one yard at a time, or terrifying one family at a time. It becomes a bit of a different animal when you are put in a position whereby you feel you have to get 500 or 5,000 marchers underfoot at one time.
A schoolyard brawl equated to mob violence in the DA’s mind – leading him to want to make a grand example out of six of our children and destroy their lives. Why? To ensure that blacks get the picture and never rise up in numbers like that again in Jena, Louisiana.

Why don’t the 15,000 people in Jena go to the next anti Iraq war rally. Most of the young men in Iraq do not have priors. Six people beating on 1 is criminal and abusive no matter what race, religion or gender is involved. You should fight the fights worth fighting. Six on one and a prior rap sheet is not a fight worth fighting.
