Where is the “justice” for the ONE kid who was beaten unconscience by SIX other kids????

Brian – thanks for taking the time to get to the truth in the story – you got it right. There has been so much disinformation surrounding this story. I’m not about to address all of it.
Suffice it to say that justice should be colorblind and that did not happen in Jena.
vjp, is that all justice should be color blind or just when it is used against blacks when they are the vicitims of a crime. i dont care if its a car crash and a 90 year old white woman hits a 24 year old black person’s car, she is a racist. deny it you know its true, if you were to see a gentleman that lives in my neighbor hood parked car you would jump to the fact that he is a racist redneck. he has a sons of the confederate sticker on his car, and he is a confederate reenactor, but guess what he is black and very good man, with a hard working wife. when he traced back his family tree it was found that his fathers family had several members of an all black cannon brigade. but guess hes an uncle tom in your eyes, as a servant of the people like you are suppose to be, i would think you would be more fair in your jump to judgement, and its strike me funny but not surprising that someone else can type in upper case and nothing is said but when you dont agree with me and realize im white, i most refrain from caps. that is what we in the real world call double standards and maybe even racial but your black so you cant be racist right???????????????
If SIX white kids had beat ONE black kid unconscience the “black community” would have demanded that those boys be put away in prison for life.
BUT since it was SIX blacks kids beating up ONE white kid the black community thinks they should totally get away with it!!

i’m a brown human being of african descent. and what i have to say is this
for one the whole structure of life as we know it as americans, is a false, pre-scripted demision designed by the same people who brought us to america. they want us to rally they want us to come together, then they’ll make a way for us to break up again. what if the jena beef was black on black over he say she say? you know it’s messed up, they gotta go through this. somebody down south should have told them or they should have known how serious these types of incidents are. from the slave days til today, we still are walking on egg shells.plus all the new bills and laws bush done put in order. honestly, no one has rights anymore because of the patriot act. people wake up. i’m from detroit mich and my parents wre in the detroit riots.

First off, calm down. Your conflation of pots/ropes/pencils/whatever with a shoe that is being worn on one’s foot is ridiculous. If you punch someone while wearing a glove, have you committed battery with a weapon? Come back to reality for us, bud. Try doing a smidgen of reading on this case and you may change your mind (as I did.)
I must say that the Revs. Jesse and Al have acted deplorably (even by their standards) in this case, but all they care about is self-promotion.

My condolences to you for what you have had to put up with just for blogging about this story. Since you closed the thread from your latest post, I can only imagine (though I think Id rather not) what sort of bile you’ve had to endure. I guess some people are even more addled than Jaquan and Morgon.

The incident you reference was even more egregious than you say. Not only did the white guy who threatened the three black guys with a shotgun get off with no charge, but the black guys were charged with stealing the gun when they grabbed it and ran off to save themselves.
May I further say that Morgon does make a fair point about reaction to this story in the black community. Shouted claims that Mychal Bell is just poor little wronged black boy are nonsense. He has four previous violent convictions on his record – two against people and two against property. He is the one who sucker punched Justin Barker, knocking him to the concrete and starting the beating. He needs to spend a good long time behind bars.

I am sad. Period. Just when I feel like strides have been made in race relations this happens. One step forward, five steps backwards.
And the emails and slurs that Vivian has received is disgusting. I don’t know if it the anonymity of the internet that lets people think they can be so horrible but those comments made about you were beyond contempt.
I wonder sometimes if MLK died in vain and those beaten on the Pettus bridge in Alabama (John Lewis and so many more) shed blood for nothing. Yes, laws have changed and there is some opportunity but equality is far from a reality. I know racism is taught and inherited but how hearts and minds can be changed, I don’t know.
Yes, segregation is over. However racism is now a stealth fixture in our society. I have seen African American friends get followed around in stores and I remember vividly a good friend getting pulled over in my old neighborhood and being questioned whether the car he was in was his and getting harrassed for over 2 hours (He borrowed my car to drive to the store, the officer recognized my car and thought he stole it!).
I look back to the Civil Rights era and think of the strides made and then something horrible like James Byrd, Katrina, and this happens.

Thanks, Maria and Vivian. I agree with every word you said. A noose hanging from a tree is a death threat. How anyone, black or white, could not understand that is beyond me.
A lot of people exhibited great courage and worked very, very hard years ago to get past the point to which we have now unfortunately returned. It’s very discouraging, but we have to find a way to put everyone on the path to progress again.
I am truly upset because as a nation we should be beyond this kind of mess. We can do all the MLK speeches that we want and believe me he was a very powerful man, but even he in the mist of hatred never showed violence and yes he was spit upon,cursed,hit and threatened and later killed by a white but he still fought long and hard and rallied not just for blacks but for all mankind. What those white student(s) did was cruel but they are ignorant and a black nation we have to fight back but not with our fist we must fight with our brains,some whites will always look at black people as ,low pathetic ignorant monkey,but it is how we carry ourself that proves them wrong,they do things to set us off because they know that stuff like racism and hatred and nooses causes us to react in violence, But the only way to beat ignorant white people( and some ignorant blacks) is to stand up as the Kings and Queens that we truly are and use our brains because the truth is when they use symbols such as nooses and crosses it’s not because they hate us it’s because they FEAR us they wish they had our culture our beauty and our brains .For the jena 6 know this you are KINGS let no one take that from you,READ THE BIBLE and check the world map..Adam and Eve was in the The Garden of Eden which is in THE HEART OF AFRICA AND WHO CREATED ADAM AND EVE GOD!!! The white student who was beat had NOTHING to do with the noose hanging from the tree. The white students who hung the noose should be expelled. The black students who beat the innocent student should be chared with hate crimes. When the black community rallies behind thugs if only furthers racial tension and the white community continues to segragate itself -white flight- from the black population

He approached the group, hurled racial epithets at them, and made it abundantly clear that he supported the noose hangers and the white thugs who beat one black student at a party WITH A BEER BOTTLE.

I realize that the filthy liars on Faux News want everyone to think that six black “thugs” went out and looked for some random innocent saintly white kid to beat up for the fun of it, that every white person in that town is innocent, and that those white racists “didn’t mean anything” by hanging nooses, but that’s just not true.
