It was probably a wise move for Giuliani et al to skip the debate. It won’t hurt them with the base voters and (mostly all) blacks aren’t going to be lured into voting for the Republican nominee in ’08 regardless of the actions of the candidates. The best they could hope for was to avoid a gaffe.
Well, I’d not characterize as “wise” any move that rejects the legitimate concerns of some Americans and then relies on the idea that no other Americans give a damn about that rejection. That said, your analysis does sound like Pat Buchanan’s.
