Long-time Norfolk Sheriff Bob McCabe is mulling a run against 2nd Congressional District representative Thelma Drake. I first heard this about two months ago. If it pans out, this will be an interesting matchup between two people who have known each other for years.

Ok thelma is an honorary graduate from ODU. I mean come on, she’s so smart she got the degree without even going, I mean thats leadership for ya. When Vivian first posted on the 2nd race and who would challenge Thelma after Phil said he wasn’t running again, I was strongly behind one candidate, who apparently isn’t running. Of the candidates that I have heard of who are still considering I would say the sheriff has the by far best chance. He has the folksy personality of Phil Kellam, but you can tell he’s not an airhead. I think he would seriously hurt her in Norfolk, while managing to pull off Virginia Beach as an independent-minded democrat.
