Newly elected Senator John Miller is speaking: “There is momentum. We are going to take back the 1st!”
Introducing Mark Warner: “He has set the bar.”
Mark Warner is speaking: “Thanks for all you have done for me, for John and for Philip.”
Warner: “Before we are Democrats, we are Americans.”
“We need a Congress who will work to solve the problems.”
Warner: “This is someone who has served on the front lines.”
“Philip brings his experience as a candidate, as a veteran, as an educator, and knows what the 1st district needs.”
Warner: “Let’s do our part to make to we send to Congress our friend, Philip Forgit.”
Loud, long applause.
Forgit: “Democrats don’t like to go out when it’s cold and when it’s raining. This is the first time you’ll hear me say ‘thank goodness for global warming.'”
Forgit: “There is a palpable sense of what’s going to happen here… People are saying they are voting for me.”
Forgit: “Four years ago, it was right to fight then for public education and it’s right to fight now. Just like it’s right to fight for our veterans.”
“The Virginia Democratic Party is fighting for the 1st district.”
Forgit: “Yesterday, I was out knocking doors with Chap Petersen and Brian Moran… Doors we knocked, the whole family said they were voting for me… I’m going to win this race.”
Forgit: “We have to fight in districts like this… I know what’s going on over there [in Iraq].. I’ve trained people over there. And when they take my job, we can come home.”
Forgit: “Who would you whether have in Congress than an Iraqi veteran, fighting for other veterans and fighting for you?”
Forgit: “Thanks to the governor for maxing out his contribution. Now you have to max out your contribution.”
“We are on TV down here. Do you like the ad?” Applause
Forgit: “Go out and vote. And the ask you friends, call them… You’ve got to literally drag your friends and relatives to the polls.”
Forgit: “Let’s do this!”
“Tomorrow, let’s celebrate this as a victory.”
