PilotOnline redesign: ugh!

The Virginian Pilot has redesigned its PilotOnline website. I don’t like it. Not only is it busy, but it’s slow to load. And finding things is harder – I went hunting for an article that appeared in yesterday’s paper. Normally, I’d just look under local news for Norfolk, but when I did, not only couldn’t I find the article but the page rendering is screwed up. And, no, clearing the cache didn’t fix the problem.

I pity the folks on dialup. This redesign is awful.

  1. It’s 1999, all over again! Too bad I can’t sell my stocks.

The (95%) solution to registration is Bugmenot.com. (Which also has a Firefox plugin).

  2. You are all right. I even tried to call them to make them aware of the problem. I use dial up and after the first page loads, when you try to go somewhere else in their site it freezes my computer. The only way to get out is close all programs. Thought it was just me. By the way I never received a call back from them as well. You would think that as much as they charge for advertising that they would have the utmost of web designs. Go figure.
