It’s 7:15pm and the polls closed 15 minutes ago. Right now 12 of 209 precincts are in. Wittman: 1704, Forgit: 784, Narain: 28, writeins 2
I can only assume that the precincts that have reported so quickly are the ones that had extra voting machines that were not used in the Nov 6 elections. I was told yesterday that some areas had extra machines and were going to use them in addition to paper ballots.

Lots of votes still out there, folks. No votes yet from James City County, half of Stafford County is still out, no votes from York County.
Philip won Hampton. Good job, Hampton! A little over 12% turnout.
7:39pm – 104 precincts in. W: 17,810, F: 9,637, N: 476
7:45 pm – 117 precincts in. W: 20,607, F: 11,614, N: 556
Half the precincts are in but still no James City County and only a little of York.
7:51 pm – 133 precincts in. W: 23,926, F: 13,135, N: 647
7:57 pm – 145 precincts in. W: 26,976, F: 14,770, N: 720
Note: All of Prince William County is in. Voter turnout less than 5% there.
By the way, I’m following the results here. (And if you are interested in the Ohio special election that was also today, you can follow those results here.)
8:00 pm – 154 precincts in. W: 29,061, F: 16,202, N: 770
Forgit won Williamsburg. Good job, Williamsburg! More than 39% turnout!
8:10 pm – 165 precincts in. W: 32,062, F: 18,039, N: 885
Still no James City County, which has about 10% of the registered voters in the 1st CD.
8:17 pm – 172 precincts in. W: 33,549, F: 19,042, N: 943
At this point, over 80% of the precincts have reported. (Somehow, the number of precincts in the 1st CD has magically grown from 209 to 210.) Even though JCC is still out (representing 16 precincts), I don’t see how Forgit can make up the difference.
My congratulations to Rob Wittman. My condolences to Philip Forgit. This was a tough campaign for a Democrat in a tough district. Forgit ran a good campaign. I’ll have more thoughts on this later.
8:29 pm – one last update: James City County is almost all in now (15 of 16 precincts) and the turnout there was absymal – 4%
9:05 pm – must have been something wrong with the JCC calculations. With all 16 precincts reporting, the turnout there was just over 15%.
Looks like a beatdown so far. I wonder how the Ohio race is going.
I haven’t found any results on Ohio yet.
Ohio polls didn’t close until 7:30. You can follow the results here.
Thanks for all the great work Vivian! I loved your coverage of the Mark Warner event.
Thanks for the help, Vivian. It’s 55-45 for the GOP with 25% of precincts reporting.
