Senator-elect John Miller will hold a series of Town Hall meetings across the 1st Senate District to find out how constituents feel about issues facing the General Assembly.
“This session of the General Assembly will be dealing with many issues including transportation, immigration, funding pre-k initiatives and banning smoking in restaurants. I want to give my constituents the opportunity to tell me how they feel about these and other important issues,” Miller said. “I look forward to hearing the views of my constituents. It will help guide my decisions in the Senate.”
Miller will hold a series of four town hall meetings. All the meetings will start at 7:00 PM.
- Poquoson – Monday, December 17th in the Library
- Newport News – Tuesday, December 18th in the Ferguson Center Music and Theatre Hall at CNU
- York County – Wednesday, December 19th at Tabb Elementary School
- Hampton – Thursday, December 20th at Booker Elementary School
I didn’t support John, but I gotta admit…that’s a great idea.
Yep. Listening to constituents ~ what a novel idea! 😉
Let’s wait to see what they tell him before we assume he’ll listen.
Brian,
My gosh give it a break!! Just because one listens as you well know does not mean they can do all things. If he listens to you and then listens to me and chooses my concerns over yours doesn’t mean he didn’t listen to you. Jo Ann Davis listened to the unions all the time then proceeded to vote aginst our concerns all the time, your favorite son did the same thing, Marty. Yet I want accuse him or her of not listening , but only of not caring about the workers and their issues. John has made a great start to his new career and will be in one year better than we could have got out of Ms. Flat Earth Republican Trish Stall in a lifetime.
Yup, John Miller is going to be a senator for all the people of the first district, not just his “base”.
That is what a senator should be doing.
You didn’t support him because you guy LOST, then Stall lost.
Miller is a good, decent, kind hearted human, that will do the job that Marty Williams didn’t do, and serve the people of the 1st District. Let me disagree. Marty Williams not only did not listen, he was arrogant in his abuse of his position. Williams never held a “town meeting” and avoided any and all contact with those of us in the 1st District.
John Miller doesn’t just have “good idea’s” he implements them. Its not all for “show” like the Republicans, Miller is the real deal. How sad to see one of the Republicans former “star’s” has to now sit on the sidelines and throw rocks from the shadows at those who are achievers and do’ers. Get used to it!
I think what you are seeing is the clear difference between Miller getting good, professional political advice, and Williams/Stall getting shabby un-professional advice.
Miller has surrounded himself with the “best in the business” and the Republicans are using any old hacks that puts up a website and claims to be a “political consultant”. They lost the Senate because of it and will lose the House if they don’t wake up.
Miller will enjoy a long tenure in the Senate as long as he continues to have the best around him, supporting him and listens to the people.
