I caught the end of the Republican debate and most of the Democratic debate. On the Republican side, it seemed that Mitt Romney was ganged up on by John McCain and Mike Huckabee. On the Democratic side, it seemed that Hillary Clinton was ganged up on by Barack Obama and John Edwards.
Nothing earth-shattering, and certainly nothing new.
So, who do you think won?

I really don’t think HRC was “ganged up on” but her reformatted strategy of calling herself an agent of change already seems to be an abject failure.
Charlie Gibson made himself the story of the evening … he acted condescending and delivered nothing but regurgitation of Republican frames for Iraq.
Sure she was. Even Richardson said something about it.
Gibson was horrible.
They were all ass-tired, and looked it. The Republican debate was . . . amusing. I respect Ron Paul’s ability to garner a huge following, he should be in the next debate, but . . . that is one crazy dude. Huckabee is the only one up there that can out-crazy him.
On the Dem side . . . sigh. Obama was unconvincing. Edwards was . . . huh. I can’t remember anything about him right now. And Hillary comes off better sitting down than standing up. I think the frequent falling back on the “hey, we’re all Dems here” goes to show how worn out they are (already!). Richardson can stop running for VP now, thanks.
I do wish the interparty mingling session between the debates were miked. I’d *really* have loved to listen in.
I thought the same thing 😉
Hillary attempting to present herself as an agent of change is going to fall flat rather or not Obama and Edwards challenge her or not….Hillary is the establishment, status quo player here…and that’s the major reason I see her as losing in New Hampshire too.
I would prefer to have Edwards win the Democratic nomination b/c I’m confident he will work diligently to reduce corporate influence. Of couree, the corporate media will continue to downgrade Edwards at every opportunity….but I can accept Obama and it appears that even in the middle of America’s worst crisis in our history (imo) Americans still want that “feel good” message.
Seems if anyone can make us feel good at this point it’s Obama. I’m just praying he’ll have the necessary follow through if he ends up being the Democratic candidate.
buzz…buzz….
buzz….buzz….
Actually, I think both were pretty much status-quo debates. GOP, Guiliani and Thompson got back into the game a bit more. Dems, Richardson looked like he was trying to get appointed by whoever winds up winning. Clinton and Obama reminded me of JFK and Nixon in an odd way.
This year run reminds me of 1984. There is a Mondale(Hillary), a Gary Hart(Obama), etc… 😉
I think Obama came out on top of the debate for the dems. Hillary’s flash of anger and attacks won’t sit well. For a few moments, she looked desperate. He looked even, serious, and knowledgeable. Edwards helped by being his attacking mouthpiece.
The republicans didn’t have a winner. Romney was the clear loser though. Whenever pressed on explaining his inconsistencies, he tied himself in more of a pretzel than John Kerry ever could accidentally do.
Obama and McCain will win.
I think John Edwards did the best performance of the night. Now you have brian trying to promote thomposn and the 9/11 guy. Give it up. They are toast and you know it.
I think Obama came out ahead. Hillary, ONCE AGAIN, got anry when she was questioned. She REALLY, REALLY comes off as entitled to this election, and it shows.
But she is the agent of change… with an old cast. How funny was seeing Madiline Albright and Co. behind her in Iowa while she called for change.
Seriosly, are we really prepared for over 24 years of Bush-Clinotn-Bush-Clinton?!?!?
You ever notice how no one ever thinks the candidate they support *lost* the debate? Just another fun little reminder that this whole exercise was basically doesn’t matter.
I think one of them is toast.
Is it just me, or does Fred Thompson remind anyone else of the Frankenberry monster?
On the Dem side I thought that Edwards and Obama did well. I think Hillary tried to hard, and got worked up easily (She really tried to show her human side when she said that everyone finding Obama more likable hurt her feelings). I couldn’t understand what Richardson was doing there (and from some of his comments neither could he). On the Rep side, I thought Romney and Paul both did well, though many people I have talked to were very impressed with McCain. I thought he seemed off myself.
Ron Paul crazy? I guess your constitution must be crazy too, as well as your founding fathers. I wonder how many people have actually read the constitution in the USA?
How many times will you be tricked and scammed, your rights smashed, your morals and values destroyed, your entire country raped on the verge of destruction, before you start to listen to someone who has not sold out and follows the constitution? I am from Australia, and I can tell you just about the whole world hates you, thinks you are the stupidest, most brainwashed in the world for being led so far down this track. You used to represent a beacon of light for freedom and independence, and now you are a beacon for warmongering and oppression and torture. Your dollar has plummeted, your bill of rights shredded, your national debt is so huge it threatens to collapse the entire financial system, your president was elected fraudulently, you are being treated like terrorists and slaves, and to top it off it is publicly admitted that children can be tortured to get information! Have you not had enough of this yet?
Its clear to me if anyone else except for Ron Paul is elected, your country is headed for imminent disaster. Although if you don’t care just listen to the corporate interests through the media and believe their propaganda.
