Weekly update of my legislative agenda issue.
I was planning to do these updates in the same order that I released the list; however, the Senate Privileges and Elections committee’s actions on Tuesday forced me to move it up. There are only two bills on this issue (so far) this session: Senator Yvonne Miller’s SJ7 and Del. Frank Hall’s HJ182. The SP&E committee decided to continue SJ7 to the 2009 session. I guess that means the bill is dead, at least for this year. We still have HJ182, which is in the House Privileges and Elections Committee. That committee meets Fridays at 9:30am. As of this writing, the docket for this coming Friday’s meeting has not been published.

I think I figured out why SJ7 essentially died.
Oops… delete my 10:45 comment. I didn’t think you allowed trackbacks, Vivian.
Perhaps. But remember that the intervening election situation applies to any election, not just GA elections. Any 2008 constitutional amendments could be on the ballot in Nov 2009, because there is an election this year.
We still have Hall’s HJ182 on this issue, though.
I’m pretty sure it has to be an intervening GA election.
Yep, you’re right, according to this. It has to be a house of delegates election.
Of course, we could have a constitutional convention 😉
