Old Dominion University will host Chowan University in its opening game on September 5, 2009. According to The Virginian Pilot, this will be the first ODU football game in nearly 70 years.
The team will sign its first recruiting class on February 6 and already has nine committments, the latest being Maryland offensive lineman AJ Willis.

Having grown up in the shadow of Foreman Field and played my high school football games there (Maury Commodores), it is heart warming to see ODU finally get a football team. Dr. Jim Jarrett has worked wonders with other aspects of ODU athletics over his four decades of service to the University as Director of Athletics, so I hope that ODU football will be seen as his crowning achievement.
I plan to get season tickets and I hope that we can fill the stadium in the same way that the former Norfolk Neptunes (semipro team from the 1970s) used to do.

Season tickets are VERY reasonable. $125 for 5-6 home games??? GREAT deal!!!
Too bad my Monarchs didn’t fares so well in hoops tonight against VCU. π¦
This is great news. I was with the neptunes in 1970, stayed in ODU dorm. Thoses were some good times. Best of luck and Keep The Faith.
