Moran a winner this week

According to the Washington Post blog:

Del. Brian J. Moran (D-Alexandria) -Last week, Moran voted against delaying a vote to close the gun show loophole. “I stand with the families of victims from the Virginia Tech tragedy in support of closing this loophole,” Moran said in a statement. On Monday, Moran’s chief opponent for the Democratic nomination for governor in 2009, Sen. R. Creigh Deeds (D-Bath), was cornered in his office by several Virginia Tech students asking him to follow Moran’s lead. Deeds then made a politically admirable push for a compromise measure, which failed, but Moran probably comes out on top among Democratic primary voters in this debate.

And in case you missed it, Del. Moran introduced “Alicia’s Law” this week. Here’s the announcement video.

  1. Great work on Brian’s part. Even gun enthusiasts should understand the necessity of making sure that guns don’t end up in the wrong hands. That’s the whole purpose of the background check. Brian continues to impress with his hard work on many important issues. He’ll make a great governor.

  2. I noticed that Creigh Deeds joined with Brian Moran on this important issue by introducing Alicia’s Law in the State Senate. Creigh also worked very hard to get gun show legislation through the Senate Committee, although his attempt to save the legislation with a last-minute compromise was still narrowly defeated. We have two very solid Democrat candidates who understand the importance of helping law enforcement agents combat violent crime in Virginia.
