Fire Dan Snyder

If there was a way that fans could fire an owner, I’d like to see Redskins fans dump Dannyboy Snyder. His firing of Greg Williams and Al Saunders tells me the man has completely lost whatever few marbles he had left.

Now that I think about it, we do have a way to fire him. Hit him where it hurts: in the pocketbook.

  1. I have had the same feeling about Peter Angelos and the Orioles. Two of my favorite teams, being destroyed my megalomaniacal owners who know nothing about the sport played by the team that they own. The bottom line is that Snyder has his eye on a guy who is an assistant coach with the Giants — Steve Spagnuolo. He’s not allowed to talk to Spagnuolo until after the Super Bowl.

Greg Williams would have been a good choice. Oh, well.

  2. Amazing. I wasn’t entirely surprised by the Saunder’s firing — Williams though was a shocker. To lose him both as a HC and as a coordinator means that the Skins are basically starting from the ground up for the 5th or 6th time in 8 years (I’ve lost count). We have about as much organizational stability as a team like the Cardinals or the Lions.

On the other side, what is Snyder doing hiring an offensive coordinator before bringing a head coach on board? And why is it that Vinny Cerrato who has been a poor personnel guy for the better part of 9 years keeps his job? It makes no sense. The team could definitely use a new owner, although I’d be satisfied if they’d just get a real GM. Snyder is a disaster.

  3. Bless you for saying this Ms. Paige, but unfortunately reality prevents this from happening. My grandparents are Redskins season ticket-holders and I get to use some of their tickets. And people like me are the problem. Even if we are frustrated and won’t go, people like me will do one of two things. Sell there tickets to whoever will buy them (even if they will root for the other team) or give them away to friends or co-workers. That won’t change and people like me will never give the tickets up, hoping that some day it will turn around. As such even if half the crowd is rooting for the other team (not as unreal a prospect as you might think) there will always be enough people in FedEx/whatever new stadium it might be to keep the money rolling in. But hurray for you for saying this Ms. Paige.

  4. Right after Gibbs stepped down, everyone was asking me who I thought the new head coach would be. “I’d say Greg Williams; the players supposedly like him, and his contract already stipulates that if the head coaching position opens up while he’s still with the team, and they don’t give it to him, he gets a $1M bonus.”

“Really?” someone asked. “So what happens if he’s not with the team anymore before they give the job to someone else?”

“That’d be crazy,” I said. “He’s not going to leave the team before he gets either a promotion or a $1M check, the only way that would ever happen would be if they fired him. And there’s no way the Redskins’ front office is THAT…” …then I remembered who we were dealing with here.

  5. John Riggins said the SAME thing as you Vivian….the funniest part was he did it on Redskins radio….
I couldnt agree with you more..
WHY did Snyder promise consistency when Gibbs retired???? He’s consistent…a consistent moron!!!
I hoped Williams would be the future of the Skins….now it’s whatever makes Snyder’s buddy Vinny Cerrato happy…
I’m gonna vote with my pocketbook- my mothly trip to the Redskins store has now ended (I’m just one person but if enough of us put on the breaks!)
I wish we could fire Snyder…
I still love my Skins….but REALLY hate the ownership!!!!!!

  6. Well Snyder and Cerrato have once again managed to completely destroy any hope Redskin fans had at restoring this once great team/franchise back to respectability. As a true loyal fan I’ve bled burgundy and gold for over 30 years but now I have to say that i am truly at the end of my rope with this bafoon of an owner that Redskin fans like myself have had to endure for the last 9 years. I am completely disgusted and utterly flabbergasted by the latest moronic decision to fire Williams and Saunders. It’s like a bad dream that i can’t wake up from. What kind of a lunatic fires his two best coaches and then re-hires replacements without first hiring a head coach? As you can see I am very passionate about the Redskins which is why i am speaking my mind now. I truly believe that if you are a true Redskins fan like myself it is time to take a stand against Snyder. It’s time for us fans to unite and stop buying or renewing season tickets, stop going to games, and stop buying his merchandise. In order to hit Snyder where it counts we have to take action and hit him in the wallett. I’m proud to say that I have never stepped foot into FedEx stadium, bought a single ticket, but most of all I have turned down repeated offers for season tickets after i had waited 25 years to get them. It’s up to the fans to take action now so we can force Snyder to sell the team to an owner that gives a dam about what matters the most ->THE FANS AND THE GAME …NOT THE ALMIGHTY DOLLAR!! It’s time we take back our team and rid ourselves of this vile disease known as Danny Boy.

  7. I just googled to find a site that would hopefully allow us Redskin fans vent over what has happened to this great team. Dan Snyder does have to go. I hope someone has the time to get a website started to do just that. It needs to promote not buying any merchandise, tickets, or anything else Snyder makes money on. People need to call in to the sports talk shows and promote the site and the message. If people stop showing up to the games……that will be the beginning of the end for his reign. I can envision protestors near the stadium, bumper stickers of the “CAN DAN” variety, articles in the local newspapers….etc. All it takes are some creative, motivated people and it could have a big impact. If I didn’t have a large young family taking up most of my time…..and I was living in the Washington area again, I would devote whatever I could to get that guy out of town.

  8. Do not give away your tix if you are not going to the game… empty seats mean no concession, merchandise, or parking sales.. It would be the only way to Can Dan.. He’ll sell the team if those sales decrease.
