Weekly update of my legislative agenda issue.
As I mentioned last week, SB38 is the surviving bill for redistricting this year. The bill has made it out of the Senate subcommittee and will be heard by the full Privileges and Elections Committee when they meet Tuesday at 4pm. Prior to the meeting, there will be a press conference by the Virginia Redistricting Coalition. The purpose of the press conference is to announce some major endorsements of redistricting reform. As a member of the advisory committee, I cannot divulge the names at this time; however, I believe many will find the names quite surprising. I certainly hope that the endorsements will be enough to convince the General Assembly to pass SB38.
In the meantime, we need to keep the pressure on. If you have not already done so, please sign the petition. And if you have signed already, thanks for your support.
