Bolling supportive of bipartisan redistricting

Va Redistricting Coalition

Add LG Bill Bolling’s name to those who support bipartisan redistricting. According to The Richmond Times-Dispatch, Bolling endorse the proposal today, along with the Virginia Chamber of Commerce.

In a letter to fellow Republicans, Bolling said now is an ideal time to promote bipartisan redistricting because the Senate is held by Democrats and the House of Delegates by Republicans.

The Virginia Redistricting Coalition* will be joined by Gov. Tim Kaine in a press conference this afternoon, at which time these two endorsements, along with several others, will be announced. The press conference will be held before the 4pm meeting of the Senate Privileges and Elections Committee, who will hear SB38. The additional names to be announced this afternoon are going to surprise a lot of folks.

As always, if you have not already done so, please sign the petition. And if you have signed already, thanks for your support.

* Disclosure: I serve on the advisory board of the Virginia Redistricting Coalition.

  1. It looks like a decent bill, as far as it goes. However, the GA can reject the first two recommendations and modify the third, so there is still plenty of room for them to bollox it up. Still, it’s better than nothing.
