Weekly update of my legislative agenda issue.
Also in the House P&E subcommittee on Elections this morning were some verifiable voting bills. I’m told that SB69, which would have allowed absentee voting without any reason, failed. SB62, which deals with registration receipts, passed the subcommittee as well as the full committee but was referred to the Appropriations Committee because implementation is expected to cost $35,000.
SB292, which has gone from an audit bill to a pilot program bill, and SB52, which deals with wireless communications, were reported out the full committee. SB536, regarding additional testing of voting machines, also reported out but was referred to the House Appropriations committee.
Finally, I’m told that SB35, the recount bill, got a good reception but a decision on it was put off until next week due to concerns about an amendment to SB292.
