Former 2nd Congressional District Congressman Owen Pickett endorsed Glenn Nye today in his bid for the seat currently occupied by Thelma Drake.

Virginia Beach, VA – Former Congressman Owen Pickett today endorsed Glenn Nye for Congress in Virginia’s Second Congressional District. Congressman Pickett represented the Second District in the United States House of Representatives from 1987-2001, serving on the House Armed Services Committee.
“I am pleased to endorse Glenn Nye for Congress in the Second Congressional District of Virginia,” Pickett said. “He has shown a tremendous commitment to service and dedication to his country that our friends and neighbors will respond to in November. Glenn Nye has the independence, leadership and experience to bring needed change to Washington.”
“I am honored to have the support of Congressman Owen Pickett,” said Nye. “His leadership in Congress has drawn tremendous respect from citizens of all party affiliations across the second district, and I am grateful for his faith in me. I look forward to working closely with Congressman Pickett in this campaign.”Congressman Pickett’s endorsement comes at a time when Glenn Nye’s campaign has been gathering attention and momentum. He was interviewed on WVEC-TV’s On the Record with Joel Rubin and has been featured prominently in recent newspaper articles.
Nye is the only declared Democratic candidate in the race.

And, he’s also a Norfolk resident. So, no Virginia Beach advantage this go-around…not that it has been.
As I said in my podcast…do you think anyone really cares about Pickett’s endorsement?
Gee, I wonder who Whitehurst will endorse?
Will he buy him beer and tickets to an R rated movie?
ok, cheap shot, but after seeing him on WVEC’s ON THE RECORD, he sure acts a lot younger than he is!
He may want to invest in a media consultant.
Yeah, Media consultant, that’s the ticket. If the Republicans were smart, real smart, they’d hire Brian Kirwin to be his “media consultant”. Look what he did for Marty Williams and John Welch. Yeah, media consultant, that’s the ticket!
I intend to vote for Glenn because he ain’t Thelma. That’s all the reason I need, but Owen’s endorsement helps reassure me I am not a total fool.
