Condolences to Sen. Yvonne Miller

I have just learned that Norfolk Senator Yvonne Miller lost her brother, John, over the weekend. My sincerest condolences to the Senator and her family.

Services will be held Wednesday at 11:00 am at Metropolitan Funeral Service, 7246 Granby Street, in Norfolk, with internment to follow at the Albert G. Horton Jr. Memorial Veterans’ Cemetery.

John Thomas Bond, Jr. has passed from this life into the hope of glory. He was born the eldest son to the late John T. and Pency C. Bond in Edenton, NC on Dec. 11, 1935. The family moved to Norfolk while John was very young.

After graduating from BTW, Norfolk, VA, John joined the USMC. He worked as a master chef in MA and VT before moving to Richmond, VA where he joined the County of Henrico’s Sheriff’s Department. He retired from there as a deputy sheriff assigned as a court bailiff.

He will always be remembered by his son, John III (Tina) of Rancho Santa Margarita, CA; a daughter, Melanie M. Anderson (Eric) of British Columbia, Canada; grandchildren, Alyssa, Nicholas, Maya, Sophie and Dylan; sisters, Senator Yvonne B. Miller, Elsie B. Lewis, and Rosa E. Bond, all of Norfolk, Carolyn B. Coleman (Bruce) of Virginia Beach; bothers, James (Paulette), David, Jeremiah (Arlene) and Samuel, all of Norfolk, Carl (Sophie) of Richmond and Daniel (Venessa) of Petersburg. John was predeceased by brothers William and Philip. Many other family members and friends will also lovingly remember John.

A funeral will be held 11AM, Wednesday in the chapel of Metropolitan Funeral Service, 7246 Granby St. Condolences may be offered to the family at www.metropolitanfuneralservice.com
