One year ago today, the lives of many were changed by the actions of a lone deranged man. Today we remember those who died and reflect on the tragedy. At time the, Governor Tim Kaine said:
It is difficult to comprehend senseless violence on this scale.
Our prayers are with the families and friends of these victims, and members of the extended Virginia Tech community.
The numerous statements that have flooded my email box on this anniversary really all boil down to the quote above. Oh, we may know more about the gunman now. And we’ve made some changes in the mental health system to try to prevent another such event. But at the end of the day, understanding “senseless violence on this scale” is all but impossible.
My prayers remain with the extended Virginia Tech community.
