The AP is reporting that Barack Obama and his family have resigned their membership in Trinty.
Obama campaign communications director Robert Gibbs said Obama had resigned from the church “over the last few days.”
Interesting.

Looks to me like he did this more to protect the church from more scrutiny than as a protest to the messages that so many find offensive.
Rumour has it that more shocking video is on the way tomorrow, this time with Michelle Obama at its center. We shall see….
Obama needs to take the final step: just admit that he’s not a religious person, doesn’t go to church, and understands Christianity on a rudimentary level only (like most Americans). At best I suspect he’s what my fundy brother calls (including me and rightfully so) a “C & E Christain.” He does a very poor job of explaining his beliefs and anyone who’s read the Bible knows how often he mangles the message. He has said that the reaction to his church caught him by surprise. A surprise because he rarely attended and knew nothing of what went on. I don’t care whether he goes to church or is a true believer or not – just don’t pretend to be if he isn’t because it will show – as it already has in an embarrasing way.
NND – I don’t think we’ll see that video until after Tuesday. My understanding is that the McCain folks don’t want it released just yet.
