RIP George Carlin

George CarlinProbably my favorite comedian, George Carlin died Sunday. According to CNN:

Carlin was best known for his routine “Seven Words You Can Never Say On Television,” which appeared on 1972’s “Class Clown” album.

When Carlin uttered all seven at a show in Milwaukee in 1972, he was arrested for disturbing the peace, the AP reported. The comedy sketch prompted a landmark indecency case after WBAI-FM radio aired it in 1973.

I watched an HBO special that Carlin did a few years ago where he did a routine on the seven words. It was hilarious. But that’s not my favorite Carlin routine. Below the fold is a video of Carlin talking about it. Warning: not safe for work.

You needn’t be a historian or a political scientist to see the Bigger Dick Foreign Policy Theory at work. It goes like this: ‘What? They have bigger dicks? Bomb them!’

So as far as I’m concerned, that whole thing in the Persian Gulf was nothing more than one big dick-waving cockfight.

You are going to be missed, George.

  1. Great video. Thanks for posting it. I’m going to miss him so much. I posted my favorite video of him too. RIP George.

  2. I loved his rants about our evolving language…His talk about our euphemisms for death is hilarious. I’ve read excerpts from his book to my class about the useage of the word “stuff” and how it is overused in their papers.
