According to The Virginian Pilot, the Hampton Roads Partnership, in conjunction with the Northern Virginia Transportation Alliance and the Washington Airports Task Force, has launched an online effort to get the public to contact lawmakers regarding transportation. The new site, BeatTheGridlock.com, includes information on how to contact the legislators. And there is also a way for legislators to respond. The responses will be posted on the website.
Here’s an introductory video.
You know, Moran’s holding a transportation town hall next Tuesday, and I thought I’d swing by to see what folks have to say. But then I see that it’s somewhere in Tyson’s Corner. Which isn’t even 10 miles from my place, but might as well be the other side of the world, at that time of day (I think it starts at 7p). If I were to drive, we’re talking about sitting in traffic forever. Any public transport out there? Well, I suppose I could patch together a bus ride, but that would simply shift the sitting in traffic to the passenger seat. Maybe I’ll ride out there on my bike. Probably more dangerous but less stressful.
They need to find the closest billboards on either side of the Hampton Roads Bridge-Tunnel, and plaster the General Assembly members’ phone numbers up there.
