  1. The likes of me? Heh.

Stick to your pushing for drilling in places it won’t matter. I’m sure things are easier for you when you’re following instructions.

  2. MB,

Meanwhile our Representatives in Congress continue to follow the instructions (the Constitution) and do not vote for impeachment.

Get used to dealing with us moderates. We still have a vote and if we can not find support from the Democrats we can still vote for Republicans.

As for the offshore drilling, you are in the minority. A Zogby poll shows majority American support for it.

  3. LittleDavid, if multiple and ongoing violations of Federal law and ratified treaties isn’t a high crime and misdemeanor, nothing is. You can stick your fingers in your ears and la la la yourself into a different conclusion, but that doesn’t change it.

You can call yourself whatever you like, but if you truly think that Republicans have something better to offer than Dems, go ahead and vote for them.

And as to offshore drilling, it was just a minority of people who thought that the earth was round, too. Didn’t change the facts. You’re just a sucker for the last-minute wish-listing that the oil companies are trying to push through before the end of the administration. Really, isn’t there anything more important going on than being a patsy for that?

  4. There is one way to determine if George Dubyah Bush is violating laws and ratified treaties and that is to take it to the courts (one of three branches of our government). As far as I can tell the current administration has been willing to bow to the authority of the Supreme Court when decisions are made that its actions violate the law. Meanwhile if any violations are especially egregious, the Supreme Court should be willing to take up these matters post haste.

As for being willing to vote for some Republicans, call me guilty as charged.

As for off-shore drilling, last time I checked I still lived in a Democracy (you can quibble with Democratic Republic if you like) and our government is supposed to be responsive to the will of the people. 74% in favor of off-shore drilling (including 58% of those who describe themselves as Democrats) is a strong showing of the will of the poeple. Politicians (including Democrats) ignore this massive expression of opinion at their peril.

  5. Sorry, David, the courts have no jurisdiction to try Bush. That’s the Senate’s job. Unfortunately, they do not know that, either. Clinton (the only president to be legitimately impeached, Johnson’s being overturned because he was impeached for violating an unconstitutional law), should have been convicted. However, the senators, ignorant of their own job description, voted to acquit because Clinton’s crime “did not rise to the level of impeachment.” The thing is, that the job of the HOUSE to decide. The Senate decides only guilt or innocence. Every senator that gave that excuse should have been impeached himself.

Anyway, the Democrats control both houses of Congress. They just don’t have the guts to do anything, just like they didn’t have the guts to actually declare war.

  6. Anon E Mouse,

Bill Clinton should have been impeached for having engaged in oral sex and then lying about it? Sorry, I do not consider that to be an impeachable offense.

I considered it grounds for Hillary to divorce him. Since she chose not to, I considered the matter settled.

But upon the “impeachable offenses” of George Dubyah Bush, I consider the grounds just as narrow. If my representatives in Congress choose to impeach him, they better be ready to feel the wrath of being run out of office. Perhaps Nancy Pelosi stuck her finger into the wind and felt which way the winds were blowing?

If George Dubyah Bush is violating the law, then take it up in the courts.

  7. “Sorry, I do not consider that to be an impeachable offense.”

That’s not YOUR job, either, David. The House of Representatives decided that perjury was a “high crime or misdemeanor.”

“I considered it grounds for Hillary to divorce him.”

Jesus did provide that exception, yes.

“If George Dubyah Bush is violating the law, then take it up in the courts.”

Read the Constitution, David. Bush can only be impeached by the House, and tried by the Senate. The only function of the courts is that the Chief Justice presides over the trial in the Senate.

  8. Anon E Mouse,

    “That’s not YOUR job, either…”

It is my job to be an informed voter. And if it is not my job to decide whether Bush should be impeached then it is not your job to do so either. I have as much right to express an opinion against impeachment as you do to give voice in favor of it.

If you disagree with your representative in the House on this issue, and this issue is that large for you, then I suggest you attempt to get someone serving there who supports your stance.

Presently I support Glenn Nye who is running against Republican incumbent Thelma Drake in my district. However if Glenn Nye came out in support of impeachment, that might be enough to force me to attempt to find a third candidate, maybe he/she would have to be a write-in. But I doubt Glenn will even take the matter up. Why should he? If he is elected, by the time he could do anything about it, it won’t matter because George Dubyah Bush will have already reached the end of his second term.

  9. “[If] it is not my job to decide whether Bush should be impeached then it is not your job to do so either.”

I never said it was. I said it is the job of the House of Representatives to decide what is and is not an impeachable offence. You certainly MAY decide that if you wish, but it is not your JOB to do so. Neither is it the Senators’ job, and yet that is exactly what they did when they acquitted Clinton.

  10. Anon E. Mouse,

OK, our current House has decided that George Dubyah Bush has decided that George Dubyah Bush administration is not guilty of an impeachable offense.

You object that they have not yet found this to be so (but its not your job) while I applaud the current situation.

Good luck getting a candidate for office to agree with you.
