OTR 7/6: Restoration of voting rights

OTR LogoThis Sunday’s On the Record will feature a conversation with a felon who recently had his voting rights restored. Also joining host Joel Rubin will be Secretary of the Commonwealth, Kate Hanley, who reviews all of the applications of those making such requests.

  1. I am a Republican and I am completely in favor of the restoration of voting rights at the completion of the sentence. Perhaps a compromise solution could be that it would be a rebuttable presumption that rights would be restored upon completion of the sentence, unless some entity made a case against doing so. With this method, the bureaucracy and time dealing with such cases would be greatly reduced, and a hearing would only be needed when there is a case made against restoration of rights.
