VLW: Shannon for AG, Cranwell for LG

An article in Virginia Lawyers Weekly focuses in Del. Steve Shannon and his bid for AG in 2009.

Although he does not expect an official announcement until after November, Shannon said, “I am full time campaigning.”

Shannon said that he has been speaking to gatherings around the state and “doing a fair amount of fundraising.”

Shannon’s fundraising has been fruitful. He has nearly $500,000 available in his campaign coffers, according to filings with the State Board of Elections. He said he would expect the attorney general candidates to spend a total of $6 million overall and he sees his fundraising as on pace with the contenders of four years ago.

Good coverage for the Delegate. He’s way ahead of the two main Republican candidates, Ken Cuccinelli and John Brownlee.

Also in the article is some information on DPVA Chairman C. Richard Cranwell. Seems Cranwell, who served in the House of Delegates for 30 years, is considering a run at LG in 2009. That makes for a fairly crowded field on the Democratic side, with Jon Bowerbank having already announced and Jody Wagner expected to.

  1. Somebody’s feeling a little picky today, huh, David?

Things will be much more interesting next year if Cranwell jumps in. C’mon, Dick, you know you want to….

  2. Yeah, c’mon Dick, you know you can’t stay on the sidelines forever. Let’s make at least the LG race interesting, considering the other two are pretty much a slam dunk, however it shakes out next Spring.
