Tropical storm Hanna’s projected path has resulted in Governor Tim Kaine declaring a state of emergency for the Commonwealth:
“Current forecasts predict Hanna will bring tropical storm force winds to Virginia, causing coastal flooding and the very real possibility of tornadoes and power outages,” Governor Kaine said. “Virginians should listen to their local government representatives and local news media for instructions for the duration of the storm.”
Batten down the hatches, folks.
UPDATE: I missed this article earlier. Looks like the storm is headed towards Hampton Roads.
Good luck and be safe, all. And, uh, thanks for taking one for the rest of us.
Bugs: “Batten down the hatches!”
Joey: “I did batten them down!”
Bugs: “Well, batten them down again! We’ll teach those hatches!”

Hanna isn’t the storm that concerns me, it’s the next one in line, Ike. It is one strong, tight storm, with a very well-defined eye and very low pressure.
Anyone got any spare sandbags… 😦
The 5 P.M. projection has it going west of Petersburg, so we should be okay.
Ike won’t hit here. Watch Josephine closely.
