RNC virtual watch party: the McCain speech

MB was gracious enough to host last night’s watch party and he asked me to do tonight’s.

Tonight, by the way, is the night that the Norfolk chapter of Drinking Liberally meets. (6-8pm, The New Belmont). So let’s have a virtual meeting πŸ˜€ Like that gathering, we welcome liberals and non-liberals, drinkers and non-drinkers alike. Come back here about 8:30 (yeah, I know the speech will get started a bit laterΒ  but we gotta get warmed up πŸ˜‰ ), grab your favorite beverage, and let’s do some convention-watching.

Until then, feel free to leave your comments about what you expect tonight.

UPDATE: Check out this preview of McCain’s speech.

UPDATE2: McCain’s speech is supposed to start at 9:11 CT (10:11 ET)

  1. Because when I look at Cindy McCain, I think “hockey mom.”

    Totally.

    Not at all darvocet-poppin’-pool-boy-bonking-ever-embittering mom.

    Definitely hockey mom.

  2. This is one of the most boring speeches I’ve ever heard. It’s almost like she’s never even read the speech before and is desperately trying to keep up with the teleprompter.

I also don’t think the no podium idea was good. It makes it even more obvious that she’s turning to the left to read a teleprompter, looks straight ahead to read another, and to the right for another. It really distracts from any content that she might give us.

  3. Ok, can I just say that EVERYTHING is off tonight.
Joe Gibbs should have been on the sidelines instead of at the RNC, Jason Campbell should be shipped to Alaska via a one-way ticket and it would have been nice if Plaxico Burress would have been Moose hunting tonight instead of playing ball.
    Sigh….0-1.
