Donating her time to her city – as its city manager:
After the City Council offered her the job as Franklin’s interim city manager, June Fleming shared her surprise.
Of course, she wanted to work. She wanted to spend at least 40 hours a week overseeing a staff of nearly 200 and an operating budget of $22 million.
And she wanted to do it for free.
Not everyone is able to work for nothing. But kudos to Mrs. Fleming. I wish we had more folks like this.
To all our hypocritical right wing Christian gop friends who now treat community service and volunteerism with such scorn and ridicule, I might remind them that Jesus Christ was a darn good community organizer and the governor was one Pontus Pilot. Personally, I my hands of the liars and dissemblers in the gop with the false and manufactured stories about Palin and throw her and McSame out of the electoral “temple”.
Make that “I wash my hands” in the last sentence posted above.
I guess you could call it hypocritical to ridicule “community organizers” while donating to charity more money, time, and even blood than liberals do:

No, what we ridicule is the assertion that being a “community organizer” is experience relevant to being the Commander-in-Chief. As far as I have found on Obama’s website, as a “community organizer,” he “helped 150,000 African Americans register to vote.”
http://www.barackobama.com/issues/civilrights/
How is helping people register to vote in any way organizing a community?
NND,
That would be correct, June Fleming has more experience to be president than Obama. I don’t think Obama ever supervised a staff of nearly 200 people and managed a budget of nearly $22 million.
That’s true! Whereas John McCain was the manager of…oh yeah. I forgot.
But at least he thinks the fundamentals of our economy are strong!
Capt. McCain was the commander of the largest fighter squadron in the Navy, and that included their budget.

Thanks, Vivian.
RL… Don’t forget your MBA president has run this country into a fiscal ditch, therefore the premise of the charge is not pertinent to the point of the desperate need of changing policy. The GOP argument is basically “Change” constitutes replacing the captain of the Titanic from bush to McSame instead of Obama for bush who will steer us in a new direction.
Specifically, he is managing a campaign of thousands of employees and a few hundred million right now. Not sure the size of his Senate staff that he currently manages as well.
Mouse, you are a joke and a liar, just like your candidates. As a young man, Obama working on the south-side of Chicago helping people whose lives were turned upside down by economic disruption and loss of jobs. Show me were Obmama make a direct link where he claims this qualifies him to be CinC. It is in his biography of what has shaped him into the man he is today. By your idiotic analogy, you say Palin is qualified to be CinC because she was a hockey mom, part of her biography. You disgusting gop thugs are very much denigrating his service as a young man to the community. Don’t bring your weak arguments, distractions an lies to a debate.
I am shocked that people of means, probably more republican than democrats, give more to charity. Gosh, why don’t those waitresses living on 25K give more? I bet looking into your link might find lying statistics as well, sort of like Bill Gates and I are in a room and our average net worth is 25 billion. I wonder if donations to church are included, which I would claim is not charitable donations such as the cancer society etc. Maybe the red states give more because they get far more in federal spending than tax dollars sent to DC. So you conservative republican red staters are living off the hard work of blue state democrats.
NND-You are an angry, bitter, negative person. If someone feels differently from your way of thinking you automatically want to insult them and put them down. What does that accomplish?
“As a young man, Obama working on the south-side of Chicago helping people whose lives were turned upside down by economic disruption and loss of jobs.”
Show me. The only reference to his being a “community organizer” that I could find on his own website was that he “helped 150,000 African Americans register to vote,” as if registering to vote is difficult in this country.
“I am shocked that people of means, probably more republican than democrats, give more to charity.”
As well you should be, because it is not true:
http://abcnews.go.com/2020/story?id=2682730
And if the wealthy tend to be Republicans, how do you explain this:
(From the above-cited George Will article.) Also, as you may have noticed, “liberal families’ incomes average 6 percent higher than those of conservative families.”
Conservatives also tend to have more children, so their per capita incomes are even lower.
Yes, donations to church are included, but conservatives donate to all charities, both religious and secular, at higher rates than liberals do.
“Maybe the red states give more because they get far more in federal spending than tax dollars sent to DC. So you conservative republican red staters are living off the hard work of blue state democrats.”
Yet it is the “blue staters” that implemented that policy and want it to continue. Why? To get the “red staters” dependent on the government’s teats like you got the inner-city poor? Perhaps you’re just angry because they’re smart enough to take the bait, but not dumb enough to swallow the hook.
“[Obama] is managing a campaign of thousands of employees and a few hundred million right now. Not sure the size of his Senate staff that he currently manages as well.”
No, he is not — his campaign manager, David Plouffe, is doing that. Obama is doing what he is told.
Even if Obama were managing his own campaign, then every candidate for President would have that experience, so it would be of no consequence.
NND,
So the Dems being in control since 06′ has nothing to do with the “running this country into a fiscal ditch”?!
It’s pretty widely accepted by most political analysts that the Republicans’ attack on Obama’s community organizer service is a “code word” for “he’s black”. But don’t you think you’d expect that racist tactic from a party that had only 36 (1.5 percent of the GOP delegates) black delegates to their recent convention?
