Palin NOT coming to Beach

According to PilotOnline, Republican VP candidate Sarah Palin will not be coming to Virginia Beach on September 18, as previously announced.

Maybe this poll scared her off?

In the area around Norfolk, Hampton Roads and Virginia Beach — a region John Kerry lost by four points — Obama appears to have a 13-point advantage.

  1. Vivian,

First of all, everyone knows that Norfolk is a city controlled by liberal dems. Second of all, it was just a schedule conflict. Believe me, she will be here and by the way Thelma Drake will win re-election!

  2. She wasn’t coming to Norfolk so I don’t know why you would even mention that. And if you think Norfolk is controlled by “liberal dems” you obviously don’t know much about the city.

And what, pray tell, does Thelma Drake have to do with Palin coming to Virginia Beach?

  3. Perhaps after drawing 23,000 people in NoVa along with John McCain, Sarah Palin isn’t too concerned with the prospect of Barack Obama holding such a lead in the Virginia Beach region.

And I’ll point out that your very post cites a poll that includes Norfolk, so my question for you is why you would question his mention of that city? Norfolk is only about 15 miles from Virginia Beach, about the same distance from my home to Fairfax where John McCain and Sarah Palin spoke earlier today, I would think that people in Norfolk would take notice of the Sarah Palin visit.

  4. I know you don’t live down here because if you did, you would understand that Norfolk and Virginia Beach are two very different cities. (And it certainly isn’t the Virginia Beach region.)

And what is obvious is that you didn’t bother to read the link. She was coming for a private fundraiser, not for a rally.

  5. Why is that funny? And what does it have to do with Palin cancelling a local event?

Oh, I forgot. No need to waste time on the reasoning with you most times, either, Mouse.

  6. Um, CRUVa, Norfolk and Virginia Beach are next to each other. Get a map.

Is Fairfax 15 miles from Alexandria? Is D.C. 15 miles from Maryland? Is Charlottesville 15 miles from Albemarle County? No, they adjoin each other.

Also, I live in Virginia Beach, and I have never, ever heard anyone call it “the Virginia Beach region.”

McCain should be worried. His military background is his main selling point (and yes, I do mean selling point). The military and veterans in this area are backing Obama, big time.

  7. It’s funny because of the “maybe this poll scared her off” nonsense compared the idiocy of Obama’s scheduling an Obama Victory Fund event on Sept. 11th.

Furthermore, D.C. is quite local to some people in Virginia, especially those in Northern Virginia, a locale in which the article you cited says Obama must do better if he hopes to carry this state.

  8. Maybe Sarah Palin didn’t come to Norfolk because her ideological twin, Sharon McDonald, is already here. One McDonald is already too many for Norfolk.

  9. I wonder why these Republican commenters are spending their time here on you blog Vivian? One would assume they are real nervous and need to vent their anxiety with their snarky comments.

  10. I am always amused at leftists accusing conservatives of action, while doing the very same thing in the process of the accusation! Hilarious. Thank you, sleepless, for feeding my superiority complex.

  11. I heard that mcsame had to bus people in from all over the east coast. They had a bus load from Woodstock, Va!! That is in the Valley for goodness sake.
Not too many pork supporters from NOVA.
    Lots of protesters too!!

  12. Mike C., since you mentioned Thelma Drake- maybe you can tell me where she earned her GED? Did she pass on the first try? Or did it take a few times?

  13. Also Mike, I happen to live in Norfolk. What “Liberal Dems” control the city?
Perhaps you mean a different Norfolk, but Norfolk, VA is definitely not controlled by “Liberal Dems”.
