Jones receives REA endorsement

Dwight Jones, a candidate for mayor of Richmond, has received the endorsement of the Richmond Education Association. From the press release:

“I believe education is the most important issue in this race because improving education for our children is the best investment we can make in this city and as the next Mayor of Richmond, I pledge to put education first,” Jones said.

“During my service in the General Assembly, I had a strong working relationship with the Virginia Education Association, and I look forward to continuing that relationship in the Mayor’s office.  It means a great deal to me personally to know I have the support of Richmond’s active and retired teachers, and I am honored to have the endorsement of the Richmond Education Association.”

Wade Ellegood, REA-PAC Chairman, said he looks forward to working with Delegate Jones in his new role as Mayor of Richmond.

“Having served for many years as chairman of the Richmond School Board and as a state delegate representing the city in the General Assembly, clearly Dwight Jones has the experience and knowledge, far above all the other candidates, to serve as Richmond’s next mayor,” Ellegood said.

Jones has served in the House of Delegates since 1994 and is chairman of the Legislative Black Caucus. An advocate for education, he has received the endorsement of the Virginia Education Association in each of his campaigns.
