Wouldn’t a town hall style inviting all veterans regardless of leanings be more suitable or is Warner so far ahead in the polls he does’nt want to risk that style at this point.
I am a little curious on his defense position given the region can expect to be thrown into serious downturn after this election. The defense systems and naval ships seem to be on the chopping block and that does not help the regions already studdering economy. Warner could go a long way in helping Obama in November with veterans given I think that like 1 in 3 voters now are veterans or have a connection to the defense industry here in Virginia.
I guess I’m not understanding the question. This is not a partisan event. Or are you referring to those people who have not decided who to vote for in the race?
“If you are a veteran and are supporting Warner, youβre invited”
Sounds partisan to me. Still, the point is to kick off a new group — a group of veterans who support Warner. I do not see why people that are not part of that group should be invited.
How in the heck does that sound partisan, Mouse? I didn’t say “If you are a Democratic veteran” I said a veteran.
Since when did being a veteran become a partisan issue?
Veterans WHO SUPPORT WARNER are invited. By implication, those who do not support Warner are not invited.
Are veterans partisan, Mouse? No.
No, Vivian, the invitation was partisan.
No. Partisan, the way it is used in today to mean of or affiliated with a particular party, is not the correct term here. If you want to call it discriminatory – in that only veterans who support Warner are invited – then, I’ll buy that. But not partisan, because veterans of any political party are welcome.
I’ll agree with that.
