Sunday’s Virginian Pilot carries the endorsement of the editorial board of former governor Mark Warner for Senate.
Fortunately, there is one decision we can make with confidence. We recommend Warner for senator.
The article points to Warner’s background in business as well as his leadership style, calling him the “natural successor” to retiring Republican Senator, John Warner.
Mark Warner brings new ideas and a commitment to good government in times of prosperity and privation. He earned our respect as governor, and he has earned our endorsement for senator.
Warner’s challenger, Jim Gilmore, is lauded for his achievements beyond the issue that propelled him to the governor’s mansion: repeal of the car tax. But the Pilot says that “Gilmore’s political instincts outpaced his budgetary and interpersonal skills.”
UPDATE: The Washington Post also endorsed Warner today. Two for two! Will it be a clean sweep?
I have been hearing news about next years elections on the state level. And this guy named Anthony Triplin is running for Virginia House of Delegates. I checked him out by googling him and he has a website. http://www.triplinforthepeople.com When looking at his website, I think he is a Young Kenny Alexander, Mark Warner, and Brian Moran.
Stacy – what, exactly, does your comment have to do with the Pilot endorsing Mark Warner? There is a reason why I have a guestbook: to give folks a place to post off-topic stuff. Please don’t plug your candidate like this.
